Sodomy, Rape and Molestation
A class 9 student was molested and sodomized by a group of 15 other boys in an open ground in Mumbai. The case was reported today by the boy against 15 juveniles, most of whom were known to the victim. They were either school seniors or society neighbors. 7 out of the 15 accused have been arrested under Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO). The remaining perpetrators are absconding and are yet to be booked under the following Acts.
The teen was exploited for the past one year by the same group of boys. Imagine the trauma, the criticism from the 15 boys parents and family members. Although it’s not reported, I’m pretty sure that a few of the accused families would have threatened the victim and his family to not report a particular name or names. In fact, the case was reported only after one of the prime accused juveniles had demanded INR 11,000 (170$), the price of silence.
All the perpetrators of the crime are minors themselves and have ruined their careers with an official police record of sexual abuse. So many crimes against children have been reported against the Catholic Church, and now we move on to children sodomizing children.
The number of juvenile cases emerging from different parts of the country is appalling. In July 2017 (last month), a 16-year-old boy was arrested for sodomizing an 11-year-old boy in Hyderabad. The victim was then bludgeoned to death. The accused had sodomized 16 children in the last few months. We are talking about a 16-year-old kid committing these crimes.
